Machine monitoring solution deployed to additional sites

Application

Building a predictive maintenance and machine monitoring enterprise program leveraging Emerson hardware & software, cellular routers, and Novaspect Cloud Hosting

Customer

Multinational consumer packaged goods company

Challenge

Customer was experiencing significant Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) underperformance at multiple sites worldwide. Machine downtime continued to impact availability. They had an inconsistent approach to Predictive Maintenance (PM) across sites with PM skillsets lacking across their organization.  They also had no enterprise machine monitoring strategy in place for their most critical assets.
Solution

Solution

Customer requested Novaspect to initiate a programmatic approach to deploy across all their manufacturing sites. The strategy was to select a Proof of Concept (PoC) site to deploy both a route-based Predictive Maintenance solution and a real-time Vibration Monitoring solution, allowing them to have immediate awareness of the health of their most critical machines. The solution included these products: AMS 2140 Machinery Health Analyzer; AMS Machinery Health Manager; AMS Wireless Vibration Monitors; AMS Machine Works; and Plantweb Optics.  Cellular Routers are now being used with all software deployed in the Novaspect Cloud environment.  This allows the solution to exist completely independent of both site and enterprise IT infrastructure.

The route-based Predictive Maintenance solution and a real-time Vibration Monitoring solution allow the customer to have immediate awareness of the health of their most critical machines.

Outcome

With a blend of internal expertise, current technologies, and support from Emerson Impact Partners, the deployment has produced real impacts.  The solution has been accepted and adopted at the PoC site as providing significant value. As a result, the corporate team has redirected their focus to expanding the program across all sites, with the program currently being expanded to sites two through four.
