Subject: FIELDVUE DD UPDATE; ACTION IS REQUIRED

Dear FieldVue Customer,

This is an important announcement and affects all Fisher FieldVue DVC6000 (HART) users.

Starting in January, 2007, DVC6000’s (HART) have been shipping with new Firmware 7 (FW7). The new FW7 enhancements are detailed belo. This letter is formal notification that the new Device Descriptor (DVC6000 Device Rev. 2, DD Rev. 1) required to communicate with DVC6000’s with FW7 is now available.

All customers who plan to purchase the Fisher FieldVue DVC6000’s MUST have “DVC6000 Device Rev. 2, DD Rev. 1” installed in the communication device they utilize to be able to communicate with a new DVC6000 with FW7 which started shipping in January.

Depending on which host you are using, there are five different mechanisms for upgrading the software depending on your specific needs:

1. AMS ValveLink ® Software v7.2 or older: Upgrade to version 7.3 or newer. This is automatically available with current foundation support and new CD’s should have been mailed to you. If you don’t have foundation support, please contact your Novaspect sales person.
2. AMS ™ Intelligent Device Manager Software (with or without AMS ValveLink ® SNAP-ON): Follow “Downloading DVC6000 DD to AMS.doc” instructions prior to connecting to a DVC6000 FW7 positioner.** (Note you also need to upgrade your ValveLink SNAP-ON to the current ValveLink Revision 7.3.x)
3. Model 375 Field Communicator with a current license for the Easy Upgrade option: Following “375 Easy Upgrade Instructions.doc” to download “DVC6000 Device Rev. 2, DD Rev. 1”from the web. **When downloading DD, disable screensaver/sleep mode on computer to avoid problems.
4. Model 375 Field Communicator without the Easy Upgrade option: Contact Emerson I&VS Response center at 1-800-654-7768 to coordinate the upgrade process or purchase easy upgrade option thru Novaspect and upgrade on your own.
5. Model 275 HART ® Communicator ( only Emerson devices in the library): Send 275 module to the following address for a no charge upgrade. Note: The 4 Mb modules will contain only Fisher devices. The 8 and 12 Mb modules will contain only Emerson devices. If you need to maintain additional DD’s, please contact Emerson I&VS Response center at 1-800-654-7768 to upgrade or consider trading in for a new 375.

Firmware/Software Enhancements

• Pressure fallback control mode (AD, PD, ODV tiers only)
• If the travel sensor fails or feedback linkage is disconnected, the DVC can be set-up to work like an I/P transducer wherein the Pressure Range Lo and Pressure Range Hi parameters setting corresponds to minimum and maximum output signal.  Let’s say the Pressure Range Lo was set to 3 psig and Pressure Range Hi was set to 15 psig and the setpoint is 50%, then the DVC pressure output will be 9 psig. The valve positioning is less accurate, but the valve continues to function w/o bringing the process down.
• This only works for single acting actuators.
• Calibration improvement

• When a triggered event is detected, 1 data set prior to the event will be stored.
• Signature Analyzer
• AMS ™ ValveLink® software has the capability to configure boundaries around valve signature plots
• If a valve signature or partial stroke test is performed, and the new data points go outside the boundaries, the test will indicate failure.
